Reclaimed Water in Your Community

What is Reclaimed Water?

Reclaimed water is highly treated domestic wastewater that has been treated through an advanced water reclamation facility to meet the strict standards set by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment defined under Regulation 84. Our advanced water reclamation facility treats wastewater through a series of treatment processes that remove solids, bacteria and chemicals harmful to human health and the environment.  Although reclamation water has strict requirements, is filtered and disinfected, is safe for human contact, it is however, NOT safe to drink.

Do I get Reclaimed Water in my House?

No.  Rangeview’s Reclaimed Water Systems are completely separate water systems which only serve greenspaces, parks, open spaces, etc.  Each house, including residential outdoor irrigation, and outdoor hose bibs are served by our potable water system and are completely safe to drink.

Why is Reclaimed Water Valuable?

Water is one of the most important resources for all life on Earth, but it is a finite resource. Colorado is a semi-arid climate which on average only receives 13 inches of precipitation annually.  With an ever growing population and increasing demand on our limited and scarce water supplies, it is critical we use and reuse our water supplies to the fullest extent.  Not only does reusing our water supplies make great economic sense, but it’s great for the environment by reducing the amount of water we withdraw from our aquifers and streams.

How is Reclaimed Water Used?

Rangeview reuses it’s highly treated reclaimed water for outdoor irrigation of greenspaces, parks, common area landscaping, and so on.  Reclaimed water has been filtered and disinfected, yet still contains some level of nutrients that are good for the growth of grass and crops. By reusing treated wastewater, we can effectively extend the life of a drop of water!

Hydrant Flushing Near You

Hydrants are flushed annually to ensure they are in good working order and to maintain water quality. Throughout the year, mineral sediment (iron and manganese) settles in the distribution system and can be stirred up when water flows reach a high velocity. Once disrupted, these sediments can cause aesthetically displeasing water discoloration that appears brownish
